Silver rings in Nepal

Sterling silver rings from our workshop in Bhaktapur, most of them set with a stone such as rainbow moonstone, amethyst, citrine, garnet, peridot or zircon. We deliver them to Kathmandu, Lalitpur and anywhere else in Nepal.

What makes a ring sterling silver

Pure silver is too soft to hold a stone securely or keep a ring round with daily wear. Sterling silver solves that by alloying 92.5% silver with 7.5% copper. It is the standard for silver jewelry, and it is what our silver rings are made of.

Most of our silver rings are handcrafted at the bench; a few are cast from a mould and then finished by hand. Each listing says which, along with the stone and, on most rings, the approximate weight in grams.

Silver ring prices in Nepal

Right now we list 37 sterling silver rings, from NPR 1889 to NPR 8169.

Three things set the price of a silver ring: how much silver is in it, the stone, and how much work the design takes. A heavier band or a larger stone costs more, which is why the approximate weight on each listing is the easiest way to compare two rings. The price on each ring is the price you pay; when a discount applies, the original price is shown struck through beside it.

Finding your ring size

When you add a ring to your cart, you type in your ring size. If you know it, enter it the way you know it, for example 7.

If you don't, take a ring that already fits the finger you want to wear it on and measure straight across the inside in millimetres, then type that measurement into the size box instead. A few tips:

  • Measure a plain ring rather than a wide band; wide bands fit more tightly.
  • Fingers are slightly larger at the end of the day and in warm weather.
  • Check the ring will still slide over your knuckle.

We confirm every order by phone before it is dispatched, so you can check the size then too.

Looking after a silver ring

  • Silver reacts with sulphur in the air and slowly dulls. That tarnish is a surface film, not damage, and a silver polishing cloth brings the shine back.
  • To slow tarnish, store it dry and away from air, for example in a small zip bag, and take it off before swimming or bathing and before putting on perfume or lotion.

Prefer the warmer tone of panchadhatu?

We also make rings in panchadhatu, the five-metal alloy used in Nepali ritual work. See the panchadhatu rings guide, or have a ring made to your own design.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a silver ring cost at Elix?

We currently list 37 sterling silver rings, priced from NPR 1889 to NPR 8169. The price mostly follows the weight of silver, the stone and the work in the design, and the prices shown already include any current discount.

Are your silver rings real sterling silver?

Yes. Our silver pieces are sterling silver: 92.5% silver alloyed with 7.5% copper, which is what makes it hard enough to hold a stone and keep its shape.

Do you deliver silver rings in Kathmandu?

Yes, and across the rest of Nepal. We deliver with Nepal Can Move: orders inside Kathmandu Valley (Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur) usually arrive within 1 to 2 business days, and orders outside the valley within 2 to 3.

What if I don't know my ring size?

Measure straight across the inside of a ring that already fits, in millimetres, and type that measurement into the size box when you add the ring to your cart. We confirm every order by phone before dispatch, so you can check the size then too.

Will a silver ring turn black?

Silver slowly tarnishes as it reacts with sulphur in the air. The darkening is a surface film, not damage, and a silver polishing cloth brings the shine back. Storing it dry and in a closed bag slows it down.

Can you make a silver ring to my own design?

Yes. Send a description, sketch or photo through the custom order form and we will contact you to talk it through.
