Sterling silver jewelry Nepal · Est. Bhaktapur
Custom silver & panchdhatu jewelry, handcrafted in Bhaktapur.
Elix is a small jewelry workshop in Bhaktapur. We take on the personalized work most Nepali brands turn down — one-off rings, name pieces, a replica of something you've lost — made by hand in sterling silver or panchdhatu, alongside our own collections.

What we work in.
Most of the collection is sterling silver. A smaller run is cast in panchdhatu, the five-metal alloy used in Nepali ritual work.
Sterling silver
925 · silver + copper
92.5% silver, 7.5% copper
Fine silver is too soft to hold a stone or keep a shank round. The copper is what makes it wearable — that ratio is what "sterling" means, and what the 925 mark records.
Polished, or oxidized
The same metal reads two ways. Polished, it is close to a mirror. Oxidized, it darkens into the recesses and makes chased detail legible. Most of our pieces use both on one surface.
It tarnishes, and that is fine
Silver reacts with sulphur in the air and dulls over months. A polishing cloth brings it back. Tarnish is a surface film, not damage, and it never reaches the metal underneath.
Panchdhatu
Five metals · cast
Five metals, one pour
Gold, silver, copper, zinc and iron, alloyed together. The proportions vary by workshop; what does not vary is that all five are present — the alloy is not panchdhatu without the fifth.
Cast, not fabricated
Our panchdhatu pieces are cast from a mould, then cleaned, set and finished by hand at the bench. The catalogue says "casted panchadhatu" for exactly that reason.
It wears warm
The copper gives the alloy its warm tone and the patina it earns with wear. It sits closer to a dull gold than to silver, and it deepens rather than dulls.
Bring us a drawing. We'll make it.
Most of what we make starts as someone's sketch, a photo, or a piece they want remade. Our artisans work it by hand in Bhaktapur, in sterling silver or panchdhatu — no minimum order, no mass production.
