Panchdhatu: what it is and how to care for it
- Panchdhatu (also spelled panchadhatu) is an alloy of five metals: gold, silver, copper, zinc and iron, long used in Nepali ritual work.
- The copper gives it a warm tone that sits closer to a dull gold than to silver, and it deepens into a patina with wear.
- Wipe it dry after it gets wet and keep it apart from silver pieces so they don’t rub against each other.
